Residents cannot have traditional air cooled systems as there is no location for outdoor condensers making this a challenging application.

History
Established in 1976 we are a family owned and managed business that has traded successfully for over 30 years! Over that time All Four Seasons have specialised in all aspects of design and installation services in all sizes and types of applications from a single split type to complicated ducted and VRF installations making us experts in knowing and selecting the very best product to suit even the most challenging application. As an independent company we are not tied to any single manufacturer and so can select the most suitable product to enhance your application and aim to exceed your expectations at every opportunity.

All Four Seasons are forward-thinking
Our engineers are our greatest asset – they are some of the most innovative and forward-thinking engineers in our industry, they come up with ways to do things better every single day. We empower our people to make decisions and we encourage them to do the very best they can. It’s what ensures that every customer receives a bespoke service that is performed exceptionally well each and every day.

Work with the best
A particular strength is our ability to draw on a range of expertise and to combine this with our own capability to provide highly developed services. Creating and developing long-term relationships with customers, founded on trust and mutual advantage in every direction, enables us to provide services in ways that our many regular and new customers alike truly appreciate.

Fresh thinking about teamwork
When it comes to working with other people we have over 100 years combined experience and know that there is more to creating winning teams than meets the eye. Our approach is also about discovering your passion too. Many of our installations require us to work closely with others to achieve the same goals, being a team player is an important factor in everything we do. We know that good teambuilding skills are necessary to work well in a team which is why we enhance our engineers skills through experience and accredited training.

A. Yes with the latest air conditioning technology, systems can be used to provide energy efficient heating as well as cooling.

Q. Will an air conditioning unit impair the aesthetics in areas of the building?

A. There is a wide range of units available to ensure that the ambience and aesthetics are not adversely affected.

Q. How much disruption to my business will it cause?

A. We always try to plan and schedule work with your agreement to minimize any disruption.

Q. How long does it take to install?

A. In most circumstances, one unit would take approximately 8-10 hrs to install.

Q. Do the units make a lot of noise?

A. The units are exceptionally quiet and therefore perfect for any environment.

Q. Do air conditioning systems require a lot of maintenance?

p>A. We recommend two visits per annum. This is also required under the terms and conditions of a warranty. A regular service on your air conditioning will also insure the smooth running of your system.

Q. What is the ECA and how does it work?

A. The scheme builds on existing statute under which businesses may obtain tax relief for investment in plant and machinery, in the form of Capital Allowances. The enhanced allowances are intended to encourage businesses to invest in energy saving technology.

Q. Can I benefit from the ECA?

A. As long as the equipment fitted conforms to the defined technologies contained in the Energy Technology product list, expenditure on equipment can qualify for up to 100% first year allowances.

So economical in fact that the government has introduced a reduced rate of VAT @ 5% to promote their efficiency as a system that both heats and cools to provide you with the comfort that you deserve.

All Four Seasons will always use fully qualified NICEIC Part P Registered electricians for all domestic contracts.

What is COSHH?

COSHH is the law that requires employers to control substances that are hazardous to health[1]. You can prevent or reduce workers’ exposure to hazardous substances by:

finding out what the health hazards are;

deciding how to prevent harm to health (risk assessment<sup>[2]</sup>);

providing control measures to reduce harm to health;

providing information, instruction and training for employees      and others;

Most businesses use substances, or products that are mixtures of substances. Some processes create substances. These could cause harm to employees, contractors and other people.

Sometimes substances are easily recognised as harmful. Common substances such as paint, bleach or dust from natural materials may also be harmful.

1.0 Introduction

1.1 Health and Safety at work etc. Act (1974) was set up to provide a

legislative framework to promote, stimulate and encourage high

standards of health and safety practices whilst at work.

1.2 The HSW Act places the responsibility for safe practice on the

employer with the co-operation of the employee.

2.0 General Statement

2.1 All Four Seasons Ltd fully appreciates and accepts its responsibilities

under the HSW Act.

2.2 It is the policy of All Four Seasons Ltd that all works are carried out to

the highest possible safety standards to ensure that the risk of accident or

injury to its employees or members of the public are minimised.

2.3 All possible assistance and training is given to employees and

operatives to enable proper working and practices to be carried out. All

employees and operatives of All Four Seasons Ltd are expected to

comply fully with all safety notices and procedures and to act

responsibly at all times.

2.4 A copy of the HSW Act is available upon request from the registered

office.

3.0 Safety Officer

3.1 The duties as Safety Officer are carried out by Mr Jamie Leader. Where

necessary these duties will be deputised to name individuals acting on

Mr Leader’s behalf.

3.2 All matters pertaining to health and safety should be addressed to the

Safety Officer.

4.0 Responsibility

4.1 Although ultimate responsibility for safety lies with the Directors of

the company, all employees will inevitably share some of the

responsibility.

4.2 Whilst on site, if no member of management is present, the most

senior engineer will assume responsibility for the safe working

practices on that site. This means that all operatives must be fully

conversant with safety procedures and guidelines.

4.3 It is the responsibility of all employees/operatives, whether on site or in

the office to bring to the attention of the Safety Officer and breach of

safe working practices, safety standards or any misconduct to lead to

accident or injury.

4.4 Employees have a duty under the HSW act (1974) to take reasonable

care to avoid injury to themselves and to others by their work activities.

5.0 Review of policy

5.1 To improve the safety and working conditions a continual review and

enhancement of our policy is necessary. Meetings are held regular

intervals to discuss the improvement of old procedures and the

implementation of new ones.

5.2 Seven days notice will be given for the safety meeting and

recommendations should be forwarded to the safety officer prior to the

safety meeting.

5.3 Should emergency discussion concerning safety be necessary, the safety

officer will make themselves immediately available either verbally or, if

required, in person.

7.2 Before any equipment is used it should be checked to make sure no

damage has occurred that may lead to injury or accident. Any item that is

considered unsafe should not in any circumstances be used, and the

Safety Officer is to be advised immediately.

What is the ECA scheme?

The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme is a key part of the Government’s programme to manage climate change, and is designed to encourage businesses to invest in energy-saving equipment.

Why was it introduced?

The Government introduced the ECA scheme in 2001 to encourage businesses to invest in low carbon, energy-saving equipment. As part of the Climate Change Levy Programme, it’s designed to help the UK reach its Kyoto target of reducing carbon emissions by 20%.

Climate change is becoming one of the biggest threats to our planet’s environment, and the biggest cause of this is carbon emissions produced by burning fossil fuels. Around half of these come from businesses and industrial processes, so it’s important that efforts to reduce emissions focus on these areas.

There are three ECA schemes which provide enhanced tax relief for spending on equipment which has environmental benefits: energy-saving equipment, water-efficient equipment and low carbon dioxide emission cars. This website focuses on energy-saving products and technologies.

What does the ECA Energy scheme involve?
The scheme provides a tax incentive to businesses that invest in equipment that meets published energy-saving criteria. The Energy Technology List (ETL) details the criteria for each type of technology, and lists those products in each category that meet them. It is managed by the Carbon Trust, on behalf of the Government, and has two parts:

The Energy Technology Criteria List (ETCL), which is reviewed annually as part of to ensure that it reflects technological progress. It sets out the qualifying energy-saving criteria for each class of technology. See how the energy-svaing criteria have changed over the years.

The Energy Technology Product List (ETPL), updated at the start of each month on this website, lists the products and technologies that are eligible for an ECA.

The ETPL also contains details of the maximum claim values for qualifying products which comprise a component in a larger piece of plant and machinery, whch does not itself qualify for ECAs.

Key Features of the ECA scheme

Open to all businesses that pay UK corporation or income tax, regardless of size, sector or location.

Provides 100% first-year capital allowances on investments in energy-saving equipment against taxable profits of the period of investment.

All the products listed on the ETPL must meet the energy-saving criteria, published in the ETCL.

Only spending on new and unused energy-saving equipment can qualify for ECAs.

Capital allowances are available for spending “on the provision of” plant and machinery. This can include certain costs arising as a direct result of the installation of qualifying plant and machinery such as; transport of the equipment to the site, and some direct installation costs. Please refer to the Claiming an ECA section for more information.

From 1 Jan 2010 it will be illegal to use virgin hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) such as R-22 (which has been the most commonly used refrigerant) when servicing and maintaining air conditioning equipment. Until the 31 December 2014 temporary use of recycled/recovered R-22 is possible but availability could be limited and costs high. From 1 January 2015 sales or use of recycled/recovered R-22 will be prohibited.

The regulation also calls for all operators of HCFC refrigeration systems to take “all precautionary measures practicable” to prevent and minimise leakage. It states that all fixed equipment systems with a refrigerant charge greater than 3kg will require an annual check for leakage. This must be undertaken by qualified personnel and they will be required to properly recover any HCFC refrigerant removed from a system. Our engineers are fully qualified to undertake this work.

We will help you develop a corporate strategy to ensure compliance with the new legislation. Simply call us now and we will audit your equipment and advise on the options which include replacement, refit or retrofit. A new air conditioning system may represent the best long term investment – in which case we will calculate likely energy savings, CO2 reductions and the payback period. We will project manage the transition to ensure the smooth integration of new systems and the safe disposal of the
R-22 refrigerant.

Does your business use air conditioning, heat pumps, or refrigeration?

If so, you should read this.

The European Union’s F-gas Regulation No 842/2006 became law on 4 July 2006. This imposes obligations on “operators” of this equipment from 4 July 2007 that you should know about. F-gases include HFCs, which are the commonest refrigerants in use today. The Regulation aims to minimise emissions of these gases, which affect global warming if they escape into the air.

User responsibilities

“Operators” are defined as the people or organisations that have actual power over the technical functioning of the equipment. The legal responsibility for compliance with the Regulation lies with the operator. Any equipment small enough to plug in rather than have to be permanently wired is likely to be excluded from the requirements, other than an overall requirement to prevent leakage and to repair any leaks as soon as possible.

For stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump units over 3kg charge (6 kg if hermetic), operators must

Prevent leakage, and repair any leaks as soon as possible

Arrange proper refrigerant recovery by certified personnel during servicing and disposal

Carry out leak checks to the schedule shown below

Ensure that only certified competent personnel carry out leakage chec

Maintain records of refrigerants and of servicing

For non-stationary equipment (e.g. mobile units on trucks) and any other products containing F-gases, operators must ensure that appropriately qualified personnel are used to recover gases, as long as this is feasible and not excessively expensive.

Leak checking schedule

The checking (to be done in a way to be defined in detail by the EC) varies depending on the amount of refrigerant in the system, as follows:

At least annually for applications with 3kg or more of F-gases (unless the equipment is hermetically sealed, in which case this goes up to 6kg)

At least once every six months for applications with 30kg or more of F-gases

At least once every three months for applications with 300kg or more of F-gases

Leakage detection systems must be installed on applications with 300 kg or more of F-gases, and when these are in place, checking requirements are halved

If a leak is detected and repaired, a further check must be carried out within one month to ensure that the repair has been effective

Maintenance and servicing records

Operators of all stationary systems containing 3kg or more of F-gases must maintain records including

Quantity and type of F-gases installed, added or recovered

Identification of the company or technician carrying out servicing

Dates and results of leakage checks, specifically identifying separate pieces of equipment containing 30kgs or more of refrigerant

It is the operator’s responsibility to ensure that the relevant servicing personnel have obtained the necessary certification, which shows that they understand the regulations and are competent.

How to know how much F-gas is in the system

The system should be labelled with this information, but if not, there is an estimate calculator on the Defra/DTI web site.

Need to find out more?

Much of the detail of the requirements has not yet been set (such as what constitutes a competent person, or what form the records should take). However the DTI has set up a website with Frequently Asked Questions, up to date Guidance and a copy of the Regulation at www.dti.gov.uk/innovation/sustainability/fgases/page28889.html.

You can also register at the ACRIB website for regular updates, and brief overviews of other current legal requirements. www.acrib.org.uk

The EU F-Gas Regulation – What does it mean for you?

The European Union’s F-gas Regulation No 842/2006 became law on 4 July 2006. Here is a brief summary of its

requirements for the UK’s Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry, which come into force (unless otherwise stated) on 4 July 2007. (F-gases include all HFC refrigerants, such as R134a, R407C, and R410A.)

Equipment operators

If you operate stationary refrigeration or air conditioning systems, you must prevent leakage and repair any leaks as soon as possible. You must arrange proper refrigerant recovery by certified personnel. If you operate other products including mobile equipment, appropriately qualified personnel must be used to recover gases as long as this is technically feasible and not disproportionately costly.

You must ensure that only certified competent personnel carry out leakage checks, and that these are done to the laid down schedule. The European Commission (EC) will establish standard leak checking requirements. Where leakage detection systems are used on large systems, these must be checked at least annually.

You will need to maintain records of all refrigerants in equipment with a charge of 3kg or more (if hermetic, 6kg or more). You must keep a specific record identifying equipment containing a charge of 30kg or more.

Contractors

You will be affected by minimum requirements for training and certification of companies and personnel involved

in installation, maintenance, servicing, containment, and recovery activities. By 4 July 2008 at the latest, the

Government will establish training and certification requirements based on EC requirements. It is hoped that these will be linked to existing requirements relating to handling of ozone depleting refrigerants (e.g. R22). Special interim requirements will be put in place between 4 July 2007 and 4 July 2008 regarding minimum training requirements.

All EU Member States have to establish reporting systems to acquire emission data where possible. You may

have to help implement these systems.

It should be noted that you might be asked by operators to accept some of the operator’s responsibilities under an appropriate contract.

This impressive building has a large number of luxury apartments & penthouse suites. Within the Whitehouse building we have installed in excess of 60 individual bespoke water-cooled systems. Residents cannot have traditional air cooled systems as there is no location for outdoor condensers making this a challenging application.

Large residential home – Kingston upon Thames, Surrey

After fully understanding the customers exact requirements we installed a number of hidden ducted Fujitsu heat pump inverter systems with fresh air induction to take care of this requirement, the client was delighted with the results.

Private House, Ewell, Surrey

We supplied hi level wall units to deliver heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer months.

Swedish Log Cabin

Air conditioning doesn’t have to just be in your house. This installation is of a LG ‘Art Cool’ unit installed in a Log cabin. This particular unit cools as well as heats so it is perfect to allow for summer or winter use and resulted in the client gaining all year round use of this space.

Private house Kensington – London

This is an installation we performed in Kensington, London. Our client required ducted units which were built into wardrobes & ceiling voids all around the house. The customer did not want to see nor hear any of the air conditioning units so all that remained on show were the inlet & outlet grilles.

The refrigerant flow is varied using either an inverter controlled variable speed compressor, or multiple compressors of varying capacity in response to changes in the cooling or heating requirement within the air conditioned space.

A sophisticated control system enables switching between heating and cooling modes

In more sophisticated versions the indoor units may operate in heating or cooling mode independently of others

This latter arrangement offers huge potential energy savings when heating and cooling are required simultaneously in different zones

This type of system requires no internal plant room space and offers great flexibility through the many types of air handling units available

Applications vary from office, retail, hotel, luxury apartments, industrial, new and retrofitted buildings

Ducted Air Conditioning Systems are the state of the art in heating and

cooling the whole building.

They are very efficient compared to traditional heaters and by using the right sized air conditioner for your project, with correct zoning and design are even more efficient than ever before.

Ducted systems are very quiet, with the noise inside being less than normal background noise. This is because the main air handling is installed up inside your roof cavity, with long ducts connecting it to your rooms.

The ability to switch zones off when not in use is another attractive feature of a ducted system. Generally bedrooms in the day are not used frequently so they can be simply switched off to conserve power.
